If you received a warning or failed any of the browser checks, please review the area below for support.

Browser Check Help

We recommend the latest version of the Firefox browser for use with Blackboard on a Mac or PC.

While Google Chrome is a supported browser, it has been known to experience issues with Blackboard in regards to style sheet rendering which may cause difficulty with tests or exams. If you are using the Chrome browser, the browser check may show a warning message. Whenever possible, please use the Firefox web browser.

Please note that mobile platforms such as the iPad, iPhone, and Android, are not supported for use with Blackboard regardless of the browser type being used.

Pop-Up Help

It’s important that you allow browser pop-ups from Stockton’s Blackboard system. Blocking pop-ups may prevent tests from opening or third party content from appearing.

While each browsers pop-up setting may vary, you should either temporarily disable all pop-ups when using Blackboard, or add Stockton’s Blackboard system (blackboard.stockton.edu) to the allowed sites within your browser.

Adobe Flash and Java Runtime Help

Although Blackboard does not require Adobe Flash, the Flash plugin may be required for certain content types used by your instructor. If you need the Flash plugin, you can download it here: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

With the exception of the Math Equation editor and multiple file uploads, the Java Runtime plugin is not required. However, it may be needed for certain content used by your instructor.  To install the Java Runtime plugin, please visit https://java.com/download

The Flash and Java Runtime plugins are not available for mobile operating systems such as the iPad.

Chrome and Edge browsers do not support Java.

JavaScript and Cookies Help

JavaScript and Cookies must be enabled for Blackboard to work. These options should have been enabled within your browser by default. If you are failing the browser check for either JavaScript or Cookies, please check to make sure you’ve disabled any ad-blockers or other browser add-ons that may be preventing JavaScript or Cookies from being able to work properly.

Adobe Reader Help

Most all modern browsers can view PDF files without the need for a browser plugin, However some PDF’s have features which aren’t supported by these built-in viewers. If you encounter a PDF file that isn’t displaying correctly or is asking you to type into form fields or add comments, you may need to install the Adobe Reader plugin. This plugin is available for download here: https://get.adobe.com/reader/
